Ganymede Series

Workstations

Workstations are for a special class: creative professionals. Whether you’re doing photography, A/V post-production, 3D rendering, or any other type of content creation, we can build you a workstation that keeps wait times to a minimum.

Ganymede Workstations are characterized by a few key differences from either normal desktops or gaming systems. First and foremost, they require a lot of RAM and storage space. Second, they typically use solid-state drives (SSDs) as a “working” area for current projects, and traditional hard drives for long-term storage.  And finally, they are made to run as silent as possible, housed in special, padded cases.

Often, workstations are a balance of CPUs that are high speed vs. high core-count, known as single- and multi-threaded performance. When an app favors high single-threaded performance, the chosen CPU needs to have a high clock speed. When an app favors high multi-threaded performance, the CPU needs to have as many cores as possible.

Prices are only listed in ranges since they constantly fluctuate. Also, these systems are suggestions, and can be purchased as is, or customized to your preferences. Please give us a call to get an exact quote.

Ganymede 863

Bronze

Ideal for those doing digital photography in Photoshop or Lightroom, as well as software or web development.  All these apps rely on a mix of single-threaded and multi-threaded actions, so we use the best CPU that splits that difference, the i7 8700.  And since these apps can use a moderate amound of GPU, we pair this with a GTX 1060. And we load up the 863 with 16GB of RAM. Can optionally be outfitted with a Quadro card if using a 10-bit display.

System Specs
  • Processor: Intel Core i7 8700 3.2 GHz 12-core
  • Graphics: Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
  • Motherboard: H370 mATX
  • Memory: 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4-2400
  • Storage: 500 GB SSD + 2 TB 5400 RPM HDD
  • Optical: None
  • Case: Thermaltake Versa H17
  • Cooler: Noctua NH-U9B SE2
  • Power Supply: 600W 80+ Bronze Cert.
  • OS: Windows 10 Pro
Estimated Price Range

$2,000 – $2,100

Ganymede 875

Silver

Great for doing post-production work like After Effects or Premiere Pro.  Both AE (CC 2015 and later) and PP only use about 8-10 CPU cores effectively, and don’t use more than that, but could later. So, we opted to again split that speed/core divide with the i7 8700.  We also pair this up with 32 GB of RAM, and 2 SSDs and 1 hard drive (1 SSD for holding Windows and apps, 1 SSD for doing your current projects, and the hard drive for archival purposes. Can optionally be outfitted with a Quadro card if using a 10-bit display.

System Specs
  • Processor: Intel Core i7 8700 3.2 GHz 12-core
  • Graphics: Geforce 1070 8GB
  • Motherboard: H370 mATX
  • Memory: 32GB (2x 16GB) DDR4-2400
  • Storage: 500 GB M.2 SSD + 250 GB + 4 TB 5400 RPM HDD
  • Optical: Bluray Writer
  • Case: DIYPC Silence BK
  • Cooler: Noctua NH-U9B SE2
  • Power Supply: 750W 80+ Gold Cert.
  • OS: Windows 10 Pro
Estimated Price Range

$2,600 – $2,800

Ganymede 885

Gold

3D design and animation apps, like 3DS Max, Maya, and Cinema 4D, can be some of the most computationally-intensive tasks a PC can do.  These mostly benefit only from single-thread CPUs, but heavily use RAM, so we outfit the 885 with a i7 8700 and a GTX 1080, and max out the RAM at 64 GB. Can optionally be outfitted with a Quadro card if using a 10-bit display.

System Specs
  • Processor: Intel Core i7 8700 3.2 GHz 12-core
  • Graphics: Geforce GTX 1080 8GB
  • Motherboard: H370 mATX
  • Memory: 64GB (4x 16GB) DDR4-2400
  • Storage: 500 GB M.2 SSD + 1 TB M.2 SSD + 6 TB 5400 RPM HDD
  • Optical: Bluray Writer
  • Case: Deepcool Dukase V2
  • Cooler: Noctua NH-U9B SE2
  • Power Supply: 750W 80+ Gold Cert.
  • OS: Windows 10 Pro
Estimated Price Range

$4,600 – $4,800

Ganymede 986

Platinum

All the workstations above are about balancing single-thread/multi-thread performance. The 986 tilts the balance in extreme to multi-thread, and is what you want when you need to throw a lot of CPU cores at a problem. Here, we use the i9 7940X, with a GTX 1080 Ti and 64 GB of RAM (upgradable to 128GB). Can optionally be outfitted with a Quadro card if using a 10-bit display.

System Specs
  • Processor: Intel Core i9 7940X 3.1 GHz 28-core
  • Graphics: Geforce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB
  • Motherboard: X299 E-ATX
  • Memory: 64GB (4x 16GB) DDR4-2400
  • Storage: 1 TB M.2 SSD + 2 TB SSD + 6 TB 5400 RPM HDD
  • Optical: Bluray Writer x2
  • Case: Fractal Design Define XL R2
  • Cooler: Noctua NH-D15
  • Power Supply: 1200W 80+ Platinum Cert.
  • OS: Windows 10 Pro
